Any Info on Mitchell garcia reels

Can anyone give me any info on mitchell garcia reels, are they any good.? I have just bought one on E-bay (a 600) it looks ok but have never used one, waiting for it to arrive in the post. Apparently it is in good nick and works ok. Any info would be great. I wanted it as a second reel for trips out on the boat. Only cost me a tenner, wonder if it is a bargain....?

Thumbs up Re: Any Info on Mitchell garcia reels

I think the word for the old 624 is bombproof. Number 1 boat reel from the 1970s - 80s & a bargain at a tenner.

Re: Any Info on Mitchell garcia reels

Thanks fellas. It arrived yesterday and is in surprisingly good condition apart from a few scratches here and there. Stripped it down, gave it a good clean / grease and it is running smooth. It is a 600 model with white bakalite side panels. Cant wait to try it out to see if it really is as good as everyone says. Cant beat it for a tenner can you....!! I am going to look for another vintage reel. Any suggestions?

Cheers.
