advice on restricted access venue i have found a venue that looks great for flatties and bass but it is very cut off. to fish it it would involve climbing onto a number of boulders and waiting for the tide to come in around me, then fish it down until i can walk off. problem is from the cliff above the public may be able to see me and may call the coast guard and obviuosly i dont want to waste their time launching boats etc to find little old me flattie bashing. what you think, should i give the spot a go?

Re: advice on restricted access venue i would suggest that you'll need to know the venue and tides like the back of your hand. if there's any possibility that you might get washed off or the tide might come further up than you thought. then don't fish there, no fish is worth risking you're life for. if it is safe then i guess it might be a worth telling the coast gaurd you're there and maybe a contact number incase a call comes in.

Re: advice on restricted access venue cheers big guy, i think thats what i will do. i know the venue well, i was just worried about wasting the lifeboat time. that is a very good point that a few anglers need to take heed that no fish is worth risking your life or serious injury. cheers fella

Re: advice on restricted access venue Wakey16, Are you absolutely sure these boulders are dry at all states of tide and wind? To be cut off by tide on a rock seems a little foolhardy...but as you get older you see dangers in everything. Check tides and weather forecast before going then don't trust them. Sorry I'm getting old and very carefull, my Dad has owned a boat of some sort all his life but fell overboard last year, he survived but has sold his last boat. No fish is worth the risk. There are lots of safe places to fish. regards, Jules.. __________________ born to fish....forced to work

Re: advice on restricted access venue Hi m8 My advice would be dont fish isolated places alone, no matter how safe you think it is. I had an accident on the south humber wall at Immingham, and suffered a compound fracture of my ankle, If I had been fishing alone I would probably died from Hyperthermia. Think safe always.
