Re: People fishing in your pocket!

All my fishing is done with my brother in-law or with friends or, as in most cases, a group of us. We would never be able to communicate with each other being a hundred feet apart and that’s as important to me as well as my buddy’s.

I understand that we are all different and perhaps do our fishing for many different reasons, although you have covered many reasons why I fish in your first post on this thread, but to expect the angler next to you to be such a huge distance away from you is, quite honest, to much to expect.

The IOW must be as busy in the summer as it is here in Torbay. Goodrington Prom is about 250 yards long and on a balmy summers evening, hold two or three dozen anglers Mackerel fishing.

Don’t get me wrong, I have objected to another angler fishing close to me but that’s because he is fishing so close, I can smell his breath. When this happens I allow my “Tourettes” to take over. If someone sets up say 20 or 30 feet away from me, even on a spacious mark, that’s fine as far as I’m concerned. After all, I don’t own any of the ground/ocean I’m occupying!

Live and let live are my thoughts on this. Enjoy life, enjoy company and certainly enjoy fishing.

Kiwi.

Re: People fishing in your pocket!

Its a pain here too.
You might go to the 800' rock dam of a local flood control reservoir, you stay 20'-25' away from the outlet pipe in the water and cast TO it. About when you start catching, some yutz w/2 noisy children and a disinterested wife plop themselves down between you and the pipe. Then start lobbing heavy catfish tackle across your lines.
There is NO-ONE else on the dam!!!
Thats not the most fun either, another yutz w/a huge 22' fiberglass (largemouth)bass boat w/a 200Hp engine, that stands as tall as he does, who has access to the WHOLE lake.
He has to troll 10' from the dam and cast down the bank in front of him and you. You can try to "stake" your area w/ big orange bobbers but it seldom works till you bounce a cast off their bow.
A friend of mine brings Really heavy kit w/a Huge bobber and line just to stake. Its LMAO hilarious when, not if, They cross 30# line w/their electric trolling motors. Then they have to grunt some lame appology as they unwind the line from thier prop.
One can argue who is the inconsiderate sportsman is but, my vote will always be with the guy on foot, on the bank!

Re: People fishing in your pocket!

sure best bet to teach you how to catch one is to fish for them on the pier.. as you can get upto a dozen in a session plus u still get the mackeral and stuff too i will let you know when they are in and feeding ect..

and my mullet bucket...(i actually havent made one for a while) normally about this time of the year i get all the old and past it frozen mackeral from the freezer chuck them in a bucket throw half a loaf of bread in seal the lid and leave it for a month or so... then go back rip the lid of give it a good stir.. (by now the yeast in the bread and the water in the frozen fish is causing it to ferment somewhat)... so give it a good stir add some more fish and another half a loaf and leave for another month... by now summers coming its warming this yucky smelly fermented pulp in your bucket ...(i dont keep the bucket in my house!) and it smells great! attracts mullet mackeral garfish the lot and then off down the pier i go...its quite useful for keeping the holiday makers away too

Thats because they know that you know where the fish are mate. Perhaps you need to paint the name out. LADY HELEN must attract boats bacause they know what a prolific fish finder you are.
