Thanx mate, I've got the flatty=Flounder thing (Plaice is a new name for me) The thing I dont get is the Fluke is right eyed and Flounder is left eyed thing. Why would the same fish be called a diff name if the eyes migrate diff side of the head. OR can I tell my fishin buddy hes full'o' (r@p ?
cheers
ps.dictionary sez=Bothidae(Lefteye FLOUNDERS) Pleuronectidae(Righteye FLOUNDERS) nothing about Fluke

Re: off tomorrow!

no mate ive never heard of that one, adult plaice have orange spots
flounders dont! never knew it was anything to do with eyes and the side of the head! be it left or right! flounder ar just that sort of mottled brown that plaice ar but without the bright orange spots!! (that plaice get at breeding age)
i only said tax disc, plaice / flounder, as they ar immature fish that i was catching and i cant tell the diffrence! i only thought to explane tax disc as a representation of ther size!
TAX DISC! We have paper discs we have to have in our car windscreens, to show we have paid tax on the car for that year! i dont know whether you have the same system in the states?
be intrested to know if its by the dirrection the eyes face bruv?
never heard it before!

Re: off tomorrow!

Buddy sez its a regional thing...east coast are big with Fluke/Flounder. Like I call my fav fish a Crappie, down south call it a Strawberry Perch...bla, bla, bla. He'll never admit to be'n wrong.
The tax indicator is a year/month sticker in the top right corner of the licence plate, w/a dif color for each year (in Nebraska). They're all similar but, each state has their own system. Some states require a plate on the front and back of the car (NE) others just the rear.
So Yes, I guess it does depend on which direction your eyes face.....LOL
