Thornback Rays with thorns underneath..

We been catching quite a lot of thornbacks with thorns on the underside.

Was wondering if its something confined to the Bristol Channel, or has anyone else caught one of these "super thorny" Rays..?????

have had a few like that myself, somr really thornie underneath others smooth , only on the larger fish though, what sort of depth r u fishing 4 rays at mo ?

10-15m.....mostly inshore

I remember Henry Gilby talking about this on one of his fishing programmes. Aparently most Irish thornbacks have thorns on the underside. Perhaps the local ones have called it reinforcements from Ireland in their ongoing battle against the Lady Helen. Be afraid, be very afraid

,you might be right,no need tho,i try to promote photo and release as much as possible ....
