| Hello fishermen, my name's Rozzie, I'm 24 and I'm a freelance writer currently working for FHM. I've only just had my first article published (v. exciting) and I'm now trying to get involved in some of the other major magazines. I've been talking to the guys at Loaded who have given me the chance to prove myself with one of their regular features, "dirty work." Basically they send one of their writers off to do some real grafting (undertaking, sewage working etc) each month to see how they go. This is where you guys come in. One of the ideas they like is that I go out to sea and be a fisherwoman for a day. I've no idea how to make it happen but if anyone's got any ideas or advice I'd really appreciate it. I live in Leeds so anywhere up north would be ideal. More than anything I want to show these silly little mens mags that some chicks have more balls than they do, ha ha. Cheers Rozzie |

| Re: Article for Loaded That's a bit risky for a lone female! No, seriously, I'd have thought your best bet would be to try Grimsby and just ask around the various captains of the fishing boats. I expect a fair few of them read Loaded and would like the chance to be in the mag, the only thing is make sure they are only going out for one day as you don't want to be trawling the North Sea for a week. |

| Re: Article for Loaded Yeah, but to get into the real dirty work a commercial fishing boat would be best I'd have thought. The smell after a day handling mackerel for bait is bad enough, imagine working with the tonnes of the stuff they haul in! |

| Re: Article for Loaded Welcome to the forum I think the guys have come up with two good ideas 1 - Go out with a commercial fishing boat ( Proos has given a good contact ) 2 - Go out with a charter skipper as crew , thousands of people do it every weekend ( Gus has a good contact or two for that ) Well done on your first article published I think as one of the biggest sports/hobbies in the UK it would make a great read for loaded , as lots of the readers will fishermen or would be interested in the sport Let us know how it goes anyway __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports Last edited by Fishing Forum Admin; 06-29-2004 at 06:44 PM. |

| Re: Article for Loaded Well lass i only live down the road a bit ( Doncaster ) and i think you ought to start with the basics. Work in a tackle shop for a week or so and learn the basics of fishing and the different tackle. Then try a full day out on a charter boat to see if you've got any sea legs, also try your hand at fishing and handling fish. Then try and get out on a working boat or something a bit bigger, this i don't think you'll find easy because of the insurance requirements. But you could get a day out on one of the many crab boats if your lucky.... Anyway all the best with your venture Danny XX __________________ It is better to have fished and caught nothing, than never fished at all.
