| Info on fishing in Jersey Hi, Im hoping you could perhaps help us out, Three mates and I are looking into traveling to Jersey sometime this year for some decent Shore fishing.... We're only normal working class blokes from Cornwall, we're not looking to hire shore guides or pay some extortionate travel company to organise our break.. but we may need alittle inside information.... As we can travel direct from plymouth to St. Helier we we're considering keeping our fishing local to there, is this a good idea? Also is bait readily availible? What time of year would be best for Bass? and any info on local bass marks, which tide to fish etc would be gratefully received In short if you are local and could give us any information or point us in the right direction, we would be grateful.. Dont worry, we aint good enough to catch all your fish and any we do would be released!! Thanks for your time. Westie |

| Re: Info on fishing in Jersey hi sparky , st cathrines break water is good for alot of different species all year round , the right hand side is good for bass from the start to about half way along, fishing the end is good for ray and the odd turbot, the left hand side is high with steps up to it where conger and doggies are a plenty but quite snaggy, you will need a good beachcaster capable of launching 6 0z plus leads off the end cos the currents are something else also good rays off the end . there used to be a little bait shop at the end but i would try and get some from the indoor market first in st hellier cos its a long walk to the end of the breakwater . there are also lots of small harbours round jersey with all sorts to be caught, including sole, bass mackie, wrasse. also try bass fishing on light spinning gear on the rocks behind gorey castle ... good luck and have a good holiday , look forward to your report !!! __________________ obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated .. species hunt team winner 2005 and 2006..with old smoothy.. |
