 fishing to be banned on piers!! just been reading the sunday times and leisure parcs who own most of blackpool seafront are to ban fishing from the 3 peirs as from next year as the say its too dangerous for the modern world  and its for safety reasons!!! it will end 140 years of fishing the peirs and i myself find this totally outrageous.. __________________ obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated .. species hunt team winner 2005 and 2006..with old smoothy..     |

| Re: fishing to be banned on piers!! Our local pier in Worthing is rumoured to be under a threat to ban fishing. In a way anglers are to blame in this case. The local Beach Inspectors who check the pier and beaches are always warning anglers not to overhead cast on the top deck - there are signs saying this but they still carry on regardless. The pier has an amusement arcade and cafe on it and leads flying through the air infront of peoples noses is not a good thing. An under arm cast is easily achievable but people still wont listen to the regular anglers who warn overs against overhead casting. Also they've been warned about leaving seaweed on the decking as firstly it looks a real mess and when the decking becomes wet anyone who treads on the weed will slip over badly. Fishing on the pier in Worthing is free and as people say " you dont pay - you have no say". If Worthing Pier regular anglers loses their right to fish we know who to blame. |
