Question Sea Fishing Tripod

Sea Fishing Tripod - Im looking at getting a new Tripod soon and was wondering what you guys would recommend as my last one as served me for a good 15yrs but its time for a new toy.

Would like one that has the butt rest that are coned as it does my head in when the rod slips round in the rest

Not to worried about cost as tripods are like reels - get the best and it will last you 10yrs plus

So any ideas on a tripod for beach / rock fishing

Cheers

Thumbs up Re: Sea Fishing Tripod

I use a Ian Golds tripod that I modified myself. Used a couple of coarse fishing rodrests to make the front legs adjustable. & a bit of alloy tubing to improve the cups. Alloy is nice & easy to work with. Just need a hacksaw & a rivet gun.

Re: Sea Fishing Tripod

you won't find better than ian golds.

they do a 7ft one now and there's enough add on bits to suite everyone. the single add on top cup is the best around when the tide/ weed is really pushing.

Re: Sea Fishing Tripod

I’m like you Rich. I have been so used to my antique rod rest (breakaway) that I would know where to start buying a newun. I do know The Ian Gold’s ones have the ability to add the extras like bait tray etc.

Guy’s, aren’t the telescopic rests a bit fiddly?

Kiwi.

Useful to level things up when rockfishing, nothing worse than a wobbly tripod.

Re: Sea Fishing Tripod

Think mine is a Golds one too. Anyway, it cost £40 so it must be half-decent
