when float fishing
what is the best way to hook a sand eel head first or tail first

head first, with the hook comming out between the eyes as this is the toughest part of the eel.

When l was younger my dad shown me how to double hook sand eels. First through the eye with a single hook as you where told. Then using an eyed hook - hook the eye over the first hook and then through the body ( Spine ) of the eel the opposite way, this helps stop those anoying half bites where you end up with just the head left on. Give it a try -- let me know what you think.

iv tried it but dont like using 2 hooks

i use 1 hook and pass hook through gill and then hook it lightly through the belly

if its live thats al but if not i use bait elastic
