HOOKED is on a distinguished road
Swanage Beach Huts

My girlfriend has relatives down in Swnagae and they own one of the beach huts right at the far end of the beach away from the town. I was told by her aunt that they have dredged around Pool and filled in the beach at Swanage. I was just wondering how this will affect the fishing around there!?!?! Always used to stay away from the beach as it's too packed to fish normally and found Worbarrow Bay much better but might be interested to try near the beach huts early morning late evening now (well, in the summer when we go down for a week!)???

Re: Swanage Beach Huts

I saw the dredging that'd been going on around Bournemouth a few weeks ago, and it was clear from all that had washed up on the beach that they were ripping through a lot of the mussel beds, I had a look around on some of the forums and the little that i found out was along the lines of the fishing had ground to a halt in Bournemouth area. That said i still saw a few catch reports from Swanage Pier and Bournemouth pier reporting the usual small species, with the odd decent bass thrown in. So it's a bit hard to say, I reckon you're best bet is to chuck your line in and see what happens, possibly February isn't the best time to make your mind up, personally I reckon Swanage will be fishing fine come spring time. Who knows maybe the lack of the usual diet at sea, might drive a few bigguns closer to shore?
