| Re: british open match report day 1 we had a look at withernsea it was v rough wind in our faces poss fish able but we went elese were. we arived spurn point at 8am thinking we would be ok for a space but how wrong was we . we had too make do with going too the pilot jetty it was not ideal but it would have to do. we was out of the wind and fishing.ther was about 15 yrds between us . two hrs into the match not a nibble tide was well on the way in, someone had a couple of crabs ,by this time fish was been caught either side of us. we fished close in and at range but still nothing ,the fish were mainly flatties, there had been the odd cod caught but nowt too shout about. there was the odd fish caught at withernsea, holmpton, eastnewton, etc. with a hour too go still no fish for but they were still catching either side of us it was not going too be our day, 30mins left one last cast went for a walk not alot too report, at last we caught one small small flattie. tomorrow could not be as bad could it. .day 2 , Sunday hopefully the wind had droped ya right sea still as rough at withernsea so back to spurn we got their a good bit eariler this time, plenty of room on the point wind on our backs sort of, got shelter set up rods also set up, all done by 8,30am sea was looking not too bad as the further round the point you get the calmer it gets. went for a walk to see how people had done at the weighin on sat i think the biggest was 3,5lbs then 3lbs or so working its way down. 10.30 match starts ploped it short a fair bit of run on too the left `till tide changed than we swung too the right even with long wires on the leads. 1hr after tide had turned on came the weed not too much too start off with but enough to carry you round with the tide and into snags. stuck it out for about 1 hour and went too back the of spurn light house, it was rough but fishable casted out before i had a chance too put my rod down the lead was almost on the beach how much run!!! no fish till about 2hrs till the end one small whiting about 10"or so . went home empty handed but had a enjoyable weekend. ![]() |
