Welcome to the forum Crafty. Used to live near Strood many years ago & used to catch some cracking whiting & flounder this time of year along the Medway at Hoo. Used mackrell & rag for bait. Can,t remember which tackle shop I bought it at though . I think it was one in Rochester. Probably long since gone!!! Let us know how you get on.

Talking Re: best plaice 2 fish in ken

Should have also said that I normally used to fish the Medway at night. Other than that I often used to fish the Admiraltry (Think thats spelt wrong ) pier in Dover. Isle of Grain was also good.

Re: best plaice 2 fish in ken

i think everywhere at this time of year is s**t. but there are some really great venues in kent. the breakwater is good but not too reliable, alot of species in one place.

bass, ray, smuts at minnis and reculver, bass in summer and codling in winter and spring from the rocky areas around thanet and kingsdown.

flatties from alot of the beaches especially walmer, hythe and dungie.

just look on a map pick a place you fancy and ask on the site for advice.

Re: best plaice 2 fish in ken

i haven't had chance to fish it yet so can't help with the times. you'd be better asking creedy, he fishes it quite a bit.

the trips do get called of if it's too windy to be safe or if the boat's broken, then you're left to the addy. thats 1 of the reason why i haven't fished it as it would p**s me off get everything set for the breakwater then getting called off.

i'm gonna try it this year though hopefully.
