how much does everyone spend?

i was just thinkin about how much i've spent on fishing gear in past few months.

i brought a second century rod for £140 before crimbo.
i've just brought a bulk order of terminal tackle for about £150 and a tiga headlamp for £140. plus the usual odd bits that take my fancy.

and i still would like to get a rod bag, reel, light rod and a tripod.

so how much do you spend on gear?

are you as mad as me?

Re: how much does everyone spend?

Mad no - I think we like shinny things

But the truth is that we start out buying cheep and then end up buying gear that cost a lot of money but will last a life time

Butttttt - we do like a bit of new kit

This week I have bought a new reel ( no I did not need it but its very shinny ) needed line so got some good stuff ... Oh and some gemini clips

Which as I pick myself back off the floor was about £120

I have no kids / work lots of hours but what the hell I deserve it - hehe

Re: how much does everyone spend?

I spend more money on fishing tackle than anything else other than food and drink.
I am a real sucker for the latest and greatest.

Re: how much does everyone spend?

i've probably, as far as i can remember bought thefollowing over the last 5 years.

2x cheap fixed spools for spinning = £30

1 shimano aerlex = £60

1 real cheap 2.5lb carp rod =£15

1 sports mag = £ 100 odd

assorted rig components/line /tip lights bait etc = ?

most of my kit gets used to the point of destruction then replaced with the best i can afford.

geejayy.

Re: how much does everyone spend?

Aint spent anything yet this year, well I mean on stuff that's just for fishing, but plenty to get. I go for cheap stuff, because that works for what I do. I am going to be spending about 7,50 for 2 new reels, I gotta buy a 2006 license (fishing & hunting combo) which costs 28.00, Bait that I use every time I go fishing (costs money as I go) about 2-3 per trip, maybe some other do-dads. Not to much this year. Oh, and BTW, my prices are in American dollars, not quid.

Re: how much does everyone spend?

i have spent well ermm geez i look at it and think why ??
i bought a bait boat a viper with extra £875 but i have since sold it as it was not for me, a set of new carp rods esp vertex distance cause i was going on holiday £580 although i have two other sets of carp rods , clothing has cost a small fortune with my nash windcheetah extreme which was purchased the week before last for £140 pushing my clothing budget owell over £250 then there is all the new sea fishing kit i bought in december although i not bought exspensive to have a two rod set up still cost me £250 with all the little items aswell then theres all my small items which prolly amount to a further £200 plus through out the winter on predator bits thats with out the carpy bits earlier in the year will estimate that at about £450 thats a bit conservative for me being a tackle tart ,but luckerly i don,t have to pay for my bait as i bait test for tails up so thats a bit of a saving and then there is the day ticket waters i fish so for them will add a further £300 so lets tally it up then ,
ok it comes to about £2900 but as its my hobby i think its not a lot really and actually its very cheap for me for a season .
but really we should not think about cost you know we all have budgets some our bigger than others but at the end of the day what ever you spend .just cause you have the latest gadgets on the bank it does not mean you will catch more nor do you know more than any one else cause you look the part fishing is a life time of learning . but also should be enjoyable too
but i buy the latest gadgets cause i.m a tackle tart

tightlines
