| Re: The Price of Bait Hi Greenheart, A Scot and proud of it As I live at least 80 miles from the nearest coastline with no tackle shops that sell "Sea Bait" within 80 miles, that I know off, I am not acquainted with the price of bait. I merely asked what the going rate was for the aforesaid products. While I appreciate the replys so far, only one has answered the simple question, What is the price of Squid and Mackerel in your area. | Re: The Price of Bait Hi Greenheart, No offence taken, I'm too thick skinned for that. We are only here once and I believe that it is to enjoy ourselves. But to do that we need to spend wisely. One tackle shop (West Bay) that I phoned wanted £5 for a pound box of Squid. When on holiday last year I had seen it during the summer in Morrisons at £1.20 a pound. I just thought that I would ask the members what the current price was. Morrisons Squid was very small, nothing like the type that we use whilst on charter. The ones we use comes frozen in boxes. | Re: The Price of Bait squid is £7 for a 5lb box, if you get it from the supermarket it has been frozen a thawed out for the counter. it's better (fresher) to buy it frozen. however the supermarkets put alot of water in the pack and if you buy it frozen then you pay for the squidy ice. as for mackeral i catch my own so can't really comment, i would guess about a pound each ish. have a long weekend down south and take a couple of cooler boxes of macky back. yellows your looking at between £3.50 to £5, and commons are almost the same (the later a rip off imo) |
