| Strange things you caught/found/seen whilst on the shore. A friend of mine saw a "John Doe" pulled out by the police and then saw a 3lb Silver Eel come out of his "Japs eye” never eaten eels since, so i am told!!!!! I found a case of Right Guard Deodorant on Ramsgate Beach took it home and we all smelled nice for six months. I used to beach comb when i was a lad, all the family did (Before the day of Metal detectors) My Brother found five gold rings in one day after the "Great Storm of 86" i think it was around that time, the whole beach was washed away and all the heavy stuff was filtered into a gulley, we just used trowels and found loads and i mean loads of coins/ rings. Dad found over 60 lobsters in 5 days washed up between Ramsgate and Broadstairs suffering from Hypothermia. Once thawed and moving they were cooked and eaten. We were all on strike (Miners) at the time, so we were skint, but we ate well that week. Anybody find anything strange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! |

I would put the image on but I cant remember how to do it. ![]() __________________ If you cant catch em-SHOOT EM Air Arms EV2-Competition http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/3815/dscf00397bo.jpg Air Arms S410-Hunter http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4...60751566nw.jpg |

| Used to live at Beachley point. Thats where the rivers Severn & Wye join by the Severn bridge. Used to find anything that washed down either river , as it used to wash up there when it hit the tide. Found dozens of wooden salmon plugs & coarse fishing floats. Several dead sheep, a dead pig & the biggest pumpkin I have ever seen. It must have weighed a couple of hundred pounds & measured about 4 or more feet accross. The police & coastguard often used to search there when someone drowned up stream because thats where they usually washed up. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: Strange things you caught/found/seen whilst on the shore. No beaches to comb around Omaha, but there are several flood control lakes around. They're all previous farm ground and they leave the trees standing to form structure and habitat as they fill. They all get a lot of fishing pressure from the city folk, and if you have a boat you can go along the trees closest the bank (they look like christmas trees sometimes) and collect TONS of tackle. Its usually Walmart & K-mart cr@p. But occasionaly you might find something good. I'll usually pull the junk down just to keep it out of the water, frequently it'll have several feet of line trailing in the water with it. ![]() __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working! | Yep, know what you mean Omaha, lost & discarded tackle is a big problem over here too. Problem is anti-angling groups like PETA, LACS & the RSPCA all use it as ammo against us. I hardly need to buy any weights in the summer, I just look on the low tide line. You get loads of holidaymakers trying to powercast without using shock leaders. Result crackoffs & birdsnests & lost tackle all over the beach. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |
