Squid preperation. As mentioned else where, I met an old bloke on the beach last night so said he'd been catching on squid, but he also mentioned that when he preps his squid he takes out the bone first, and strips the skin. Now I'd heard of taking the skin off to give the quid a whiter look, but I'd never heard of anyone removing the bone. Has anyone else every heard of this, and if so, why? Rich.

Re: Squid preperation. yep if you cut open the squid and remove inners you get a nice white sheet of squid, you can then cut into long strips , or small squares/triangles etc for tipping baits off or on own whole suid is good for bigger fish, the pieces for most everything else, pout arent supposed too like squid , but never seems too stop them arroun=d here?? hope this helps __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives

Maybe he has cuttlefish mixed up with squid, as they do have a bone. A hard white thing, that you often find washed up on the beach. Squid do have a sort of bone. It looks like a bit of clear plastic. If you get a fresh squid, first pull off the tenticles, these usually come off with the guts attached. You are then left with the main body of the squid (Shaped a bit like a condom __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey...

Re: Squid preperation. I always take the cartilage out of the squid. Feel and look at the end of the squids body and you will see a small point, pull it and it will come out,it should be the full length of the squid. Happy squid fidling folks __________________ One day i will post a catch report again.

Re: Squid preperation. on the subject of bait presentation, a really sharp knife makes like sooo much easier and makes it look alot neater at the end __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's

Re: Squid preperation. I normally take the bone out of the squid when fishing for small stuff like dogs and whiting...normally open it up with a knife and cut it into quarters and hook it wrap it round the hook with a bit of elastic to keep it secure! (stays on for ages) but if I'm fishing for decent size fish and planing on using the whole squid then i hook it with two hooks and leave it as one!
