Question Can i use braid on a fixed spool real for beach casting

Hi Guys

Can i use braid with a fixed spool real for beach casting?. Some people have said yes others have said no what do you think?.

By all means, go for it. Just remember to watch the weight rating on your gear. Just because 80# braid has 20# diameter, your kit is still rated for 20#. Don't rip the guts out of your reel.

I'd go for no as a general rule - you would of coarse have to use a shockleader as braid has zero give and would be deadly with out

And depends on the depth your fishing as if only a 10 ft deep shore mark then the only thing in the water is the shockleader and the braid would have no effect . But in a deep 60 foot mark with a bit of tide then worth a go and see what happens

But must use shockleader ( use a proper braid knot as braid can cut through mono ) and watch your fingers

Thaks guys i will give it a go and see what its kike. by the way how do you attach shockleader to braid is ther a special knot to use or just a standard leader knot, if so where can i find how to tie it

hi braid is great for useing of the beach i use it on my multi with not many probs,
we use 30lbs its perfect for fixedspools ive same braid on for 12 months still going strong

used to use it for fixed spoil, great no problem, dont forget the shock leader
tried it once with multi and got a birdie

ive found you have cast as hard as poss too keep the spool rotating fast on
a multi or the braid lifts up, or lay the line on with bigger movements of your thumb to stop it digging in when it gets tight
