Now if they would do something about the phishing I'd be overjoyed.
EVERY time I bid on something, win or lose, I'll get phishing on my e-bay account and on my Pay-pal too.
I live 10 blocks away from the Pay-pal customer svc. center and still cant get it to stop.

Re: eBay Scam

I won 2 sinker molds, 1 from Australia and 1 from Alaska. The mold from Australia took 4 days, the mold from alaska took nearly 5x as long, 18 days.

Re: eBay Scam

LOL Yes, the lady that sold it (Nice gal) said that EVERYTHING goes by boat. I looked at maps and aerial photos...WOW I couldn't imagine being so far from Nowhere!!
Almost the Only way to go for some stuff, out of production or the company is out of business since the 50's.
Do-It and Hilts are the Only lead mold Co.s still in opperation in the U.S.(that I know of). Hilts was gone for several years, someone in California has brought it back. But their stuff is still a bit difficult to find.
The Only way to find molds from Lil'Mac, H-I, Herters, Palmer, or cast iron molds from Reading is auction sites or comb antique shops & estate sales and hope to find an old sportsman's legacy
It Can get out of hand, Know what yor bidding on And what its worth to you.

One time, some loser managed to hack into my eBay, and sent various other members fraudulant emails looking trying to get thousands from them. One of the victems actually responded, asking where to send the money. Luckily, I prevented the person from paying me, warned the others, and contacted eBay as well as the appropriate authorities. eBay put no effort into investigating, though I had an excellent idea of who the loser was. The US Federal Government claims to be tracking the jerk down (I notified them as well). eBay gave me instructions on how to change my password (already done by then).

However, the worst "fraud" committed against me was by both eBay and PAYPAL. I used a non-ISP email when I registered for eBay, so they wanted to verify my identity. and I was cool with that. I gave them my credit card number. Their TOS, help, and verification pages all said I would not be billed. I later found out from my bank, that they charged my account for $7. It was refunded several weeks later. The eBay customer service rep. told me that they do actually charge the account, but only for $1 not $7. My credit card statement definetely was not lying, and I even verified it all with a rep from the bank. I would not have found out about the eBay charge, had I not signed up for PAYPAL at rhe same time. I submitted my credit card number to PAYPAL, so I could pay for an auction that I had won with my newly minted eBay account. However, before I could use it, I had to submit to PAYPALs $1.95 "extended use fee", which is one of various ways PAYPAL gets money out of newbies. They told me to contact my bank to egt the code, but warned me that my account could be terminated for contacting the bank. To be fair, PAYPAL does put 1.95 into the account after completion, but I still have to mail in a check to pay my CC bill (which I pay every mionth in full to avoid interest).

Most eBayers turn out to be very honest folk. I have had but a couple problems, and all them were easily resolved, even whent he seller was over 10000 miles away in Russia (I couldn't resist buying a Vostok watch direct from a distributer). I sell some on eBay and I try to be more thazn fair with my buyers. Usually the Hong Kong guys can be easily detected, and as long as you stay away from certain items things work out ok.
