Just out of sheer interest, is everyone on this forum, not only anglers, but do we like a tipple, while we surf these pages...???

Re: bait for members day

Right guys, here you go.

HW is at 20:30, so the best fishing will be from say 17:00 to 22:00, but that doesn't mean you can't fish the rest of the day. I would have a crack at mackie bashing for some really fresh bait and to put on the BBQ's in the daytime. If you just intend fishing the evening tide then a 1/2lb rag, 1/2lb blow lug and 8-10 peelers will do. Peelers are 80p each at the moment and were not ready to peel last weekend, so careful here.

Andy and I had 4 bags of frozen hermits between us too as there are Smoothound being caught from the shore at the moment. They were about £2 a bag and there was five in a bag. I would also take some frozen squid. If you don't want to try for fresh mackie then Weymouth Angling stock Ammo frozen fillets. If you want the Plaice, grab a wrap of frozen black lug too.

If you want to fish the whole day, double up on the rag and blow lug. I tend to change my bait every 10 minutes or so when the tide is running really hard as it washes out very quickly. Around slack water you can leave it for 20 minutes or so.

Take some plugs and spinners too, you never know and it makes a change.

Hope that helps.

Re: bait for members day

Looking forward to meeting up again mate. Should be a great day. Are you coming along by yourself?

Hayfever should be not too bad by the sea - hopefully. You'll be in good company as Andy and I are both sufferers too.

Exclamation Important - Sun Cream

Don't forget your sun cream next weekend, and a high factor too. I got royally burned last weekend and it has been miserable this week with the after effects.

Chesil Beach is shiny shingle and the suns rays are reflected a lot more than would be normal from a sand beach. Also, the water expanse is massive, adding to the reflection and increased tendancy to burn.
