Help is needed please.

Ok I have been here about 2 weeks now and already I am on the bite for some advice. I have been reading about the sea bass that can be caught from the beach , and I was wondering what would you all recomend for a setup also what rigs do you use. At home I go fishing for jew and taylor off the beach and have a 16ft rod using a side cast reel . Would a similar thing be used here. All input is welcome thanks alot.

Re: Help is needed please.

depending on what ground your fishing really.

if your fishing rocks you want a rod that will cast up to 8 oz so it's strong enough to deal with the snags. bait wise crab or blenny would do well.

if over clean beach then a rod that can cast 5/6 oz or a lighter rod (bass) rod that can cast 3/4 oz if theres not much tide and fishing close in. cast just behind the surf with worm or crab for the schoolies or live bait ( pout, whiting, goby, etc), or sandeel (live if pos) for the bigger fish.

if your rod falls into 1 of the catagories above then yes you can use it.

hope this has helped, good luck m8.

Thanks alot for that info gents will take it on board. I have organised for my side cast alvey reel to be sent over I dont think there available in the north, I struggle to get much distance with the egg beaters,I like the look of some of the rods for sale up here though. I got to remind myself every time I am in a tackle shop that I have limit to the amount of gear I takč home with me on the plane.
