Re: new reel

i could cast further with my 7HT rather than my mag elite. they amazing reels but my big clumsy fingers get caught up in the little handles when winding in. lol.

the slosh is a real alrounder. you can put it on a bass rod and lob a big bait, cast a resonable distance with match rod, haul a fish back over rocks with a stiff rod. it's quick on the way back to.

i think that mags really belong on the field, very very rarely does every half a yard make any difference what so ever to the amount of fish you catch.

tune a reel properly to suit your style and you'll cast the same distance.

this is just my humble opinion of coarse.

Re: new reel

I think your dead right, everyone gets to wound up with casting and as ive said i think the beach is a great casting leveller.
If you cant cast with a 7ht then a new reel will make no diffference in my humble opinion

i'm thinking of getting a 525 mag, is it easy to adjust the mags during the cast? from pics i've seen it looks a bit acward to get to. and do they balance well for casting as they look more clumbersome than a 7ht or elite?

Re: new reel

I dont no never tried i just set them too about half way then use my thum to
control the spool if its starts too fluf up.
They are v fast so care would be advised when casting into a head wind.

Re: new reel

at the mo i'm having trouble controlling the spool in the very first split seconds of the cast. i've got avery quick otg style which is a nightmare to try and tune a reel for.

maybe have to book a lesson with the casting coach to develop a new style and maybe try and master the pendulum again.
