Re: Sea fishing Line

I usually change mine due to the amount left on the reel,after ive snagged and parted a few times the line level falls to low for decent casting.
Also think it depends on how often you fish

Re: Sea fishing Line

same as john, if you only fish once in those 3 months then why change it?
change it when it needs it, and when i have some spare laying around

Re: Sea fishing Line

i buy kilo spools of medium quality that is very cheap and re spool everytime i go fishing. this way it's cheaper and you know you've always got good line on you're reel.

Re: Sea fishing Line

every THREE sessions, I reverse it - reel to reel, so line at back of reel gets used as well!

Then completely new fill - every THREE sessions. Thats how I've always done it and I'll never change. Just one nick in the line, and that could cost you a fish of a lifetime. On the same subject, I change leaders EVERY trip. And always use top quality swivels, in my opinion, BERKELY, they're the best money can buy! Very, very reliable. I find Mustad one's break under full bodied pendulum cast.

Line I use;

MAIN LINE - Ultima F1 18lb. black
LEADER - Ultima Power Flex 70lb. clear (also use this for rig bodies)
