Tripods

Ok we `ve all had it happen a good fish takes your bait and legs it and even with your drag set the good old three leg tripod starts to tip over - normally forward

So why arent tripods built with four legs with the fourth leg pointing forward to stop the tripod falling that way

Just thinking out aloud over a beer

Hi Richard,

I would recommend the use of a carrier bag filled with sand or pebbles to hold your tripod down.

I bought one of those trace bars to fit over front legs
really does stabellise the tripod(useless for traces as lost most of hooks ;-0)
also burying legs in ground helps(if can)

made my own leg lock kit, along with a bait tub
when fishing big/medium baits the clutch gets set at all time, fishing small baits try n stay close to it or keep it along way up the beach, last thing i wanna see is £400 of gear going across the water (ask bill for advice of how to get it back )

Just another thought

How about if you drill a hole in each leg about three inches up from the bottom . Then you could use long tent pegs and put them through the holes into the sand or shingle ?? This would anchor the legs down is easy to do and cheap as chips

Ok would not work on rocky ground but its a thought

I do not think that tent pegs in sand or shingle would hold!!!!!

I can assure you that a carrier bag filled with sand or shingle works a treat.
