yes, some areas experience strong tides, bristol channel being most notable with a tidal range of 14m the 'delta' shape of the channel between england and wales contributes to the effect with a tidal surge on spring tides createing the 'severn bore' a series of waves travelling upstream , big enough to surf on if youre really keen. or, a place that i'm more familiar with, hurstcastle the tide range is about 5m but the tide rips past the castle at about 5 knots (im told). 210g gemini grips wont hold in this, dureing the ebb as the tide rips out between the castle and the isle of white ( western solent). geejayy. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
