Penn Fishing gear

Hi all,
Went to Teignmouth on Saturday to look at a holiday flat. Visited the charity shops while i was there and picked up a load of fishing gear inc. Penn 60 long beach multiplier, penn spinning reel, penn 10ft spinning rod and a penn 7ft boat rod. I want to know how good the penn gear is and can i use the multiplier for jerkbait or lure fishing. I have never used a multiplier before but know the basics. There is no line guide on the multiplier are they meant to have one as standard? The rods are in good nick now that i have cleaned them up and the reels both seem to be in good order. I doubt i will ever use the boat rod but it will look good in my collection.
Thanks
Ian
