odds and sods

Hiya just thought id share some stuff with you all that my dad gave me yesterday after clearing his garage out.....some quite old fishing stuff id say and some of it ive never seen before lol first of all he gave me two reels one of which is a garcia mitchell 386 (1969) and still in working order.....not a bad reel for its time but i dont plan to use it but its nice to have! there is another old reel he has given me but im not sure what it is..... its called...new de luxe and im sure it comes from the intrepid range but if anyone can tell from this pic id be grateful on the info ie make and year? cheers

oh yer forgot to say that reel there has the handle broken off!! lol still got it though and can be fixed! ive been on ebay today and seem the mitchell one selling at 21 pound with 7 hrs to go....so it cant be that bad!!

he also gave me a box of bits and bobs and i found some interesting weights that i have never seen before in my life....lol maybe i have but never taken any notice, they are like a lil clamp type lead that must clip on your line to give it a bit more weight....you should be able to see from the pic....weird things if you ask me and not much cop either...lol

and how about this lil tool for unhooking your fish....not like the tool i use today and im sure it doesnt quite do the job as quick and easy but i can see how it works!

and finally there where a couple of booklets in there both dated at around 1969...one was the angling times diary of 1969 which is full of some great info on club records, british records, river authority addresses, prices of rod licenses (£1 10s for a season) for salmon and sea trout in northern ireland!! also lots of info on fish!!

The other booklet was fishing from southend pier.....loads of info in it from tides rigs bait where to fish for sertain fish and lots of addresses of angling clubs and secreteries! interesting lil read! even got a map of the pier telling you where to fish to catch what fish! (bet you dont get half the amount of fish at them spots now)!

The angling times diary

The pier Booklet!

Whats coming up and where!

well that was my exciting box of tricks today all in all it was quite interesting looking through at it all and thought id share it with ya all!

Ollie.

oh yer almost forgot.....im never gonna uses these either but there was a box of tied flies in a box with there names and stuff with them....look quite fancy to me and very well made......would these be able to be used if i ever take to fly fishing one day?

ok thats it!!

Ollie.

Re: odds and sods

Those little lead clamp thingys look like plummets to me.
You put a split shot on yer line near the hook and then clamp one of these on the split shot then you can gauge the depth with em, i think?
