| Dangers! Just thought I'd start a thread about the dangers of fishing-I'm sure that we all have a story to tell. What prompted this was what happened to my other half two weeks ago.He was fishing a club match on rocks near to where we live, where he fishes regularly,so he knows them well. He rang me to say he had fallen 10 ft. down and cut his head and could I take some plasters down to him. When I got there my daughter -who is a sergeant in the St. John's Ambulance Brigade-was already ringing the Ambulance. My husband was lying on the rocks semi-conscious,and bleeding badly from a head wound. They had to get the Coastguards out to get him from the rocks to the car park, and they took him off to hospital where he stayed for 2 days. It turned out that he had to have his right leg in plaster from the knee down,he had a nasty gash on his head,a badly twisted left knee, and cuts and bruises all over him. It could have been a lot worse-the tide could have been in,or he may not have been able to get back up to his mobile phone. He's lucky he's still here to tell the tale, but he said it won't stop him from fishing on the rocks-but I bet he'll be a bit more careful next time! |
