| Re: river tyne so you're obviously on the south side if you're fishing mill dam. Try the walkway further down river near the estuary mouth. Usually always something to catch there. Or the Groyne even further into the estuary. Good depth of water here, and good tide run too. Fast reel required though, as it's a bit snaggy, and if you don't get that rod high and wind like hell, wave bye bye to yer tackle - and fish! Then there's South Shields pier. A lot of opportunities to catch lots of different species on here. On a big tide, fish into the river, try and get yer baits into the set (tide-line) where bags of good coalies can be had on frozen crab, mussel, ragworm. Again fast reels help you out of the snags. On the round head, fish the south east corner for cod, coalies and plaice. Bang yer baits out as far as you can. Over low water, fish the small wall into the river, codlings should be there. First light is a prime time here. Hope that gives you a little indication. Good luck. |

| Re: river tyne Quote:
When the tides are flooding, if you look out into the estuary you will notice a 'calm' line, this is where the tide is meeting other currents forcing it to slow but still trying to push, therefore it creates a line on the surface, but underneath there's a lot of activity, swirling and disturbance going on, where a lot of feed is gathering, thus fish are feeding. Have a walk along the pier one day and look for it - you will see it mate! And watch if anyone's fishing into it and check their results. Good luck mate.
