 Disposing of old line. Just emptied some so called 15lb line off a reel (tested as 9lb). It then occured to me how do we dispose of old line? So the question is, how do you dispose of line?  I used to burn it but that left loose lengths that could still tangle animals and birds.  If I'm unloading a spool I now wrap it round cardboard and then cut it in to lengths of a couple of inches , or if it is lighter BS cut it in to tiny lengths and bag it (in both cases) . Any other ideas of getting trid of the nylon menace? Nearly ready for the IOW. Time for      |

| Re: Disposing of old line. Berkley run a line recycling service basically save it for 6months or so and send it all to your local recycling people and theyll handle it from there |

i usually strip it of reels in coils tie an over hand knot in the middle , then seal it in a wide mouthed plastic bottle which will keep it safe from beastie entanglement. not too sure how enviromentally friendly this is, but i recon if it goes to land fill the line stays sealed for the lifetime of the bottle. if incinerated all burnt no probs(other than emmitions). might cause a problem with plastic recycling though. Old hooks are delt with the same way to prevent injury, i used to be a dustman and have seen and experienced some injurys from items irrisponsibly chucked in the dustbin bag;- 1, carveing knife, punchured kidney. not nice, 2, hyperdermic syringe , not nice, turned out to be t,b, blood test on livstock. 3, assorted broken glass, still have the scars. o,k i'll get off me soap box now. geejayy. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
