| Fishing Gib style Hello all,cor its hot out here,into the 30s everyday,the only way to cool down is go to the beach and drink cold fluids  I was at home with the misses when i got a phone call to fly out to Gib for a spot of work,just enough time to throw a light spinning rod and a few hooks and stuff in my bag and then get the plane out here. Am i glad i brought the tackle,the fishing out here has been great,the harbour is full of different kinds of fish from small bream up to huge conger and moray. I started off by spinning but had no luck so i resorted to trusty old bread which every type of fish out here seems to take. In the end i found the best method was a simple froating crust just lobbed out into the harbour,as soon as it hits the water the crust is mobbed with fish,watch the line and as soon as it tightens strike. The beauty of this fishing is you never know what has taken your bread,ive had scores of mullet up to 5lb,gilthead bream up to 1lb,spannish mackerel,a large red fish like a perch ,some sort of red bream and a longish fish like a pilchard as well as other fish that i havnt seen off the hants coast. But as ever where ever i go i m now looking forward to getting home and getting amongst some 3oz pouting,and to see if ben has mastered his pendulem cast yet CHEERS  __________________ One day i will post a catch report again.     |
