hello ,can anyone tell me is there a difference between abu garcia and ambassadeur ive been told garcia is a cheeper version is this true?.

Abu and garcia tackle companies merged many years ago,to form ABU Garcia,recently they have incorporated other American brands like Berkley and Red Wolf,The company now trades collectivly as Pure Fishing.
Ambassadeur is the trade name for ABU`s range of multiplier reels,they are available in various specs ,you can get economy version.The Ambassadeur7000 is one of the best reels around,the economy version is called the Ambassadeur 7,looks the same but has different cheaper components inside.

As a Swedish member i can tell you that ABU is a Swedish company an the multiplier reels under the name Ambassadeur are still manufactured in Svängsta in Southern Sweden, which means quality!

Abu make some of the best reels in the world they also manufacture some of the best Uptide and 12-20lb class braid rods.

Its a shame they have succumb to the needs of the markets around the world and gone for some dodgy Chinese manufactured rubbish

But needs must to stay competitive I suppose.

Price pressure outstrips the demand for high quality sometimes,which is a shame.The swedish made ABU gear is still unbeatable.The quality of rods and reels are the biz.

In your opinion which abu is the best for red gilling? Would like to use it on my diawa amorphous whisker uptide, for red gilling for pollack and uptiding for bass and cod etc. I think level wind is a must for myself. Would like it to balance the rod and be comfortable. I was thinking may be a 6000 on braid.
any thoughts
