Where do you get one of these in the UK Charter Skipper? I've seen a few on US ebay but they don't often ship to the UK.

They usually go for £30-£35 on ebay legfud - that's where I got mine. Although the reel on first inspection seems to be pretty much the same as a 6500C3 there are some subtle differences. The 6000 is a model all on its own. It is probably only still produced because of tradition - the model has long been an established favourite of American catfishermen. ABU started with the 6000 years ago and have probably continued the reel for that reason alone. As for the differences, the 6000 does not have infinite anti-reverse and has one ball bearing and one bronze bush in the spool - It also doesnt have a support bearing on the handle shaft, just a bush. This is opposed to the 6500 C3 having three ball bearings. Also the Abu 6000C has outboard bearings located in the end caps while the Abu 6500C3 has inboard bearings located in the spool. I think each reel may also use different size bearings too. The gearing (5.3:1), spool capacity, line-out alarm, levelwind and frame dimensions are exactly the same on the 6000 as the 6500C3. It's a slightly cheaper reel than than the 6500C3 but also made in Sweden and just as well built.
