Couldn't agree more with this, Gully - it's all about being able to push with the right hand and not worry about controlling a reel, IMO.

I was quite anti, until I tried it about 15 yrs ago, and I reckon it instantly added a good 20 yards on my casting, wouldn't ever go back to "up" now...

Of course, it can be harder work reeling in, there's all that extra leverage when you've got weed or a fish on there, and personally, I don't really like reducers at all....

So, I'm a down rather than an "up" man.. LOL. Sad, innit?

Your right about it being harder to wind in with a big lump of weed on,not sure about winding in a big fish

Sorry, I should have added, "I've been told", it's harder to wind in a big fish.. LOL.

Who knows? One of these days, I might even find out!!
