Re: Sea Temp isnt it what brings in mackerel and also makes fish feed more/less i have never thought about sea temp, does the pH effect it as well?? __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's

Re: Sea Temp Fish are more active in warmer water, they will chase a bait further. I'm not sure about pH levels. With the water being saline and in such huge volumes I think off a boat in the Channel there is little variation in values. I would suspect that closer to shore and especially around outfill pipes etc. the pH value will change. __________________ Back to the fizzy pop league for another season

Re: Sea Temp not only that but it will change the rate of growth for certain plant life which will inturn produce more/less food for the fish __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's

Re: Sea Temp My missus's brother is a micro biologist professor, who used to work at the Natural History Museum in London, now doing work for Newcastle University, and he tells me that the North Sea changes 1 degree between winter and summer, and very rarely , 2 degrees! Now by my reckonning, thats still very cold !! I don't think the temp makes a lotta difference in the north sea, but I just think fish, bait etc. just move in cycles, instinct if ya like. We don't get cod from the beaches in summer months, even when a huge easterly or north easterly, blows up, simply because the cod have moved into deeper water to gorge themselves on the huge sprat shoals. No self respecting cod is gonna leave them easy pickings to go off hunting for a crab or lugworm!! But if them sprat shoals never showed , then I do believe that the cod would never leave the shore, even in the hottest, calmest weather. So, to recap, all i'm saying is, I don't think fish move away from the shore, just because the sea temp or air temp has changed, i'm talking just about the North Sea mind you, I can't comment for other areas, say for instance Devon area, where they have the Gulf Stream running through them, hence peeler crab all year round! Mind you, I have noticed in winter months, when digging worms, they are much deeper than in summer months, when high pressures virtually push the worms through the sand. Just my own opinions, though guys, so if i'm way off the mark, and just made a complete nar nar of myself - I do apologise...

Re: Sea Temp that makes sense the fish will be where the food is but i think the food amounts/plce varies with the temp __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's
