Can you tell me how much it costs cause Im going to invest in an uptider for cod bashing in the channel this winter - also a suggestion of a reel and costs. Where to get it on mail order ?

Any Abu dealer will stock them,best price i`ve seen mail order is Gerrys in Morecombe 109.99 .I think Richard got his 2 piece from Spotty Dog Tackle at around the same money.A lot of the guys i take out swear by the ambassadeur 7000 range .Personaly i use 7000 HSN,its great for uptide casting because of the narrow spool,great for braid also, also have a 7500 c3 just as good.Depends on what you want really and more importantly how much you want to spend.I find Ebay can throw up some real 7000 bargins now and again

Thanks mate - so the rod is about £ 110 so wot reel is ideal for it and how much we looking at for them, sorry Im not that clued up on good boat rods and especially uptiding - may go for your option as I want to use it for uptiding this winter.

If youre only goin to be uptiding,the 2 piece is the biz,the 3 piece just makes the rod adaptable to downtide fishing should you wish.The new 7000 Big Game reels are great,you can get narrow or wide spool versions,and also lever drag versions,i`d go for the one with the highest spreed retrieve around 5.3: 1.this make it much faster to reel in the slack line loop when youre uptiding and increases your catch rate.I`m sure both wide and narrow 7000 Big games now come with 5.3 retrieve.Be carefull the lever drag ones normally have 4.1 retrieve.In the shops they are around 125,i see them all the time on E bay for 80 quid.

Suveran Pro Uptide 6-10oz in action,fish turned out to be a 17lb 1oz Blonde Ray.As you can see the rod easily handles a big fish,and a 3 knot tide run with ease
