Re: casting

hi to all
a lond drop is ok if you are on a flat beach
but if you are on a sloping beach a long drop can hit the beach
sending you rig in all directions,
if you can master the basic pendilum, and try and get the power in as you turn you can and will get some good distances but you must put some casting time on the beach or field

Re: casting

I have been trying to improve my casting, at present I lay the sinker on the beach directly behind me and lob it out from there. I tried it off the beach with it back at 9 o'clock but got the turn and release wrong and nearly hit a foil basher 80yds up the beach!!!!

Re: casting

i personally dont think you can go to far wrong with a greys orion i pendelum a 5oz lead and can bend/compress the rod with no problem.. they are cheap and will handle most styles of fishing maybe someone nearby can let you try one if not and your ever in devon your more than welcome to try a cast or 3 with the one i have.. im going to buy myself another!

Re: casting

i would say that you do need to get a rod just designed for your style of casting though
my abu suveran sx says its for OTG and pendulum i think and it loads up too quickly during a pendulum which causes my casts to go left, much prefer my zziplex

Re: casting

hi ben
you may be letting go to early?
or too late
i cant remember which is which,
this happerns to me sometimes
and my son aaron, he is always doing the same ,
he has two totaly differant types of rod
he has a conoflex prototype which is stiff all the way through,
and a penn ppt pendulum which is quite soft he always casts better with the softer rod but he likes the conoflex better ????
he thinks because its stiffer its better?
i like a stiff rod because i can bend them ,
soft rods for me tend to bend to much and they dont recover quick enough
speak soon
john

Re: casting

have you tryed a zziplex 2500
or a greys pz match the old style or new
or a century tip tornado match
or penn sidewinder
these are all softer rods
do you use a fixed spool or multi?
