Angry Disgusted!!

Decided to fish Ferrybridge (Chesil) last night. Fished into Portland harbour first few hours but with no luck. Then fished into the Fleet after dark.
I am not a Sea angler by heart, but got some gear together and asked a mate to supply the correct rigs Etc.
My first good bite came just after dark and struck a little enthusiastically. Fish on.
Whilest winding in, an angler out spotting for a place to fish came over and asked a barrage of questions about how we were fishing!! This guy obviously new what he was talking about but was starting to annoy me.
Fish came out and was an Eel of about a pound! My new friend decided to tell me about how I was doing it all wrong and what to do to improve!
I said that is was going to take a picture for the species hunt I was involved in! "What Club." He asked, I mentioned about this great little forum I was involved with. "Dont like Forums" "All a bunch of Time wasters!" He remarked.
I wasnt very happy and decided to bite my tounge. He soon moved on, and fished off the Bridge itself!

(Promise not to keep you much longer!)

As it had started to rain now, we decided to call it a night.
Whilest walking back to the car, we had to pass the chap and his mate. He had just caught a Bass and had put it in a carrier bag! This fish was still flapping around and was smaller than the width of the carrier.
This fish was definatly undersize!
The Fleet is a nursery and people like this muppet are really spoiling the future for all anglers! I would like my son and daughter to be able to fish, and catch, in the future!!
Conservation and Education is the key!!!! We all have a right to fish. Lets not spoil it!

This Numpty is now barred from our shop!!

The End!!

Re: Disgusted!!

Yes Ben he would have definatly taken the 1/2 bass and would have kept the 4 inch bream if we were not watching him and the argument i had with the other nutter who told me it was rock salmon and was going to eat his 3lb smoothy.

Re: Disgusted!!

I hate people like that, wa**ers. If fish are a legal size, then fine, it's a personal decision. I keep mackerel and whiting for eating, but ONLY if they're a good size. Or maybe a bass. A spanish bloke next to me at Newhaven in January wanted to keep every whiting I caught, despite the fact that some were barely half a pound. He was beside himself when I returned them to the water. Oh and he kept calling them pollack despite the fact that I told him they were whiting

Don't worry about that mate, I think we're talking about people who take ANYTHING, no matter what size. I'd take your fish for the table in that situation

Re: Disgusted!!

This is not the 1st Under Size Bass that I have seen taken from Ferrybridge this week. Admittedly the guy who caught it did not have a clue what fish it even was let alone what the minimum size for it was. I told him and he seemed to get the message as he seemed very worried when I told him that CEFAS regularly make spot checks on fishermen’s bags (I wish).
I think that it would be incredibly helpful if CEFAS or even BASS invested some money and put up signs with a picture of a Bass and a measurement indicator to show if it was undersize. If these were placed on fishing piers and hotspots through out the country it may help. Then again maybe it is just a drop in the ocean.

Re: Disgusted!!

Every where you go, you will more likely see novices and regular fisherman who know what they are doing taking undersize fish. there aint alot that you can do when you see something like a fisherman taking undersize fish. Sure you can tell him, but when i have told people all i get is f**k off or else you will go for a swim!!!

In teignmouth it happens alot, when the grockles come down, they dont honestly know what size the legal bass limit is, like you said there should be notices or signs up informing people.

Re: Disgusted!!

what makes me laugh is this:

Q: why are you keeping all those under size fish pall?

A: cat food mate!!

Q: what bait are you using?

A: I've got 6 packets of ragworm.

Q: How much is that per packet?

A: £3 per packet and it's good stuff too!

Q:£3 eh ? so you've spent £18 on ragworm then? How many tins of cat food could you buy with £18 instead of killing all them under size fish?

A:

Q: Well ??

A:

nuff said I think. Use ya loaf people not only is it ILLEGAL to keep under size fish, it's ruining the future of our sport.
