fishing with floats

hi
when fishing with floats what depth do i want to be fishing??
top, middle, bottom??
fishing for bass prefrably but any fish is good

Float Fishing

Well what I do is plum the depth Click to read more

Then fish on the drop - Heavy weight near the float and getting lighter and lighter as it goes down to the float , leaving the last 8 inches from the hook weight free



This means that the bait gently drops throught all the levels of which the fish might be at . Every 5 - 10 mins I re cast out until I find at which depth the fish are feeding at

As a sided note remember what fish you are targeting i.e bottom feeders

Not sure mate! the bass i have had have been all over! near the top at night and in mid water and botom during the day!! I have never floated for them though normaly freeline or ledger! Good luck with it!

bass feed where the food is we've caught them ten foot under the boat and on the bottom in 130ft of water. if you have whitebait on the surface and mackeral chasing them you will probably get bass chasing the mackeral we get this situation quite often in the solent around the forts. we can go out to the bass grounds and catch them in 130 plus ft of water. so you takes your chance.
