| Mackerel 5 miles off... Well folks, the boat guys in my area report mackerel in massive numbers off my shore, around 5 miles, so a bit of a calm, settled spell required, then I can get my freezer filled with plenty of fillets of bait... Remember I have the north sea, which is much more colder than the sea you Devon guys have, obviously the sprat and launce shoals are on the move. Our peelers are starting in good numbers too.. ..with all the good bait supplies around, just hope the fish are there too. We are still taking codling in dark hours on crab baits, albeit small ones 2 - 3lb., but the tanglers will be making a show very soon on massive crab, mussel, and salmon roe (one of the best baits around for kelpy cod). |
