Talking Beach Casting or Pier Fishing in NW Area

Help! I am new to this Forum and need some serious HELP! A friend and I went to Portland Bill last year and had a great time Wrasse Fishing. Now we want to try our hand out in the North West area Beach Casting or Pier Fishing. PLEASE can anyone recommend an area that is easy to get to and not too far from Southport (about 20 miles from Liverpool). Someone said that Blackpool Pier is an option ????

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Joe
