Maxximus solid carbon boat rod

Maxximus solid carbon boat rod - Well just got a 20/40lb Maxximus solid carbon boat rod today to have a look at and look prity dam good

Light as a feather fuji rings ( thank god no rust problems I hope ) the blank is tops

One strange thing is they have gone with a cork bottom part handle , which I have rods that are 20 years old and the cork is still fine but just seems a bit strange to do this on a new rod

They have moved away from solid metal reel clamps which is a lot better

Going to fish with it on the boat trip on the 21st so will see how the action is like with smoothounds and hopefully a tope or two

Solent Fisher is on a distinguished road
Re: Maxximus solid carbon boat rod

Hi,

Yes these solid rods do look good. I want to get one in a few weeks but not sure on the class. I've bought a boat and intend to fish for bream, smoothys, tope and ray in the summer and whiting and cod in the winter, in depths of up to 25-30m but mostly a lot shallower so 20/40lb makes the most sense.

I've shopped around but they all seem to be £99 in the UK for all classes.

The Total sea fishing magazine boys think they're good but anything imported by YYS International and Fladen products they are saying are great. Its obvious they are getting kick backs, free gear, prizes for comps etc. Look in any copy and its YYS this, YYS that, Fladen here, Fladen there... hmmm

Let us know when you used it properly and given it plenty of stick then post an honest report.

Cheers,
James
