Re: finding free bait?

HI
Bait you have collected yourself is nearly always better then the bought stuff.
At the moment the crabs are peeling and if you can find a few of these they make excellent bait for nearly all fish.
You can also dig your own worms if you know where and how.
Normal limpets are not much good but if you can get hold of slipper limpets these make good bass bait.
If your a bit strapped for cash you can buy squid in bulk and semi thaw it out ,break it down into smaller amounts and refreeze, likewise with mackerel or catch you own and freeze.
Both these are excellent all round baits and cheep.
Peeler crabs are fetching 85p each down my way at the mo so its deffinatly worth looking for them as long as you like getting muddy.

PS If you go after peeler return rocks to there original position after moving,
cheers

Longer then normal ones, shaped like one of you grannys grotty old toe nails.
You get my drift?
You can usually pick them off the beach after a good blow, they freeze well but if you can get hold of them and use them when the sea is still rough then they can be a killer for bass as that is what they are feeding on.
Happy hunting
