Re: finding free bait?

Hiya

just like to add that the mullet you will need to target if your using bread will be the thick lipped mullet charlotte if you was gonna think about others ie golden greys and thin lipped then your best bait would probably be redrag/maddies not an easy bait to collect but a very productive!

hope thats a bit more help for you

Ollie.

Re: finding free bait?

Sorry i cant help you with that area but im sure that someone will very shortly

To fish for thick lipped mullet i use light gear maybe like a quiver tip and float bread crust along the surface or even use a light weight and trot a long two hook rig down the tide run! when i mean long....i mean long...lol i aways try to get the bait around the middle or nearer the top of the water! this is the technique i use as i only fish rivers for em so its probably different where you are!

The thin lipped mullet i would suggest useing a bubble float with a small spinner running about five foot off that attacked to a small hook about four inches off that baited with redrag/maddies....again this is my river method so once again may be know use!! lol i tend to fish this as the tide drops off and drift it around in the tide!

For the golden grey plain two hook one up one down with size 8 hooks light weight light hook lenghs and light gear from the beach and bait redrag/maddies!

All three species are very exciteing to catch and i hope some of that gives you some help! and most of all i hope you get a chance to target some for yourself

Ollie

Re: finding free bait?

I'll be fishing shortly for thick lipped mullet in the Avon estuary which is only round the corner for you I think and I believe they can be caught in the marina area at Brixham. They can travel up rivers several miles from the sea so all the little creeks in that area could hold them though they haven't started appearing yet I don't think.
