where does the fish come from? i am fortunatly enough to have my own fish supplier that visit once every fortnight. so i get fresh fish and other seafood all year round. recently he didnt turn up for a month and his reason was that the truckers strike in FRance was the cause, i did not enquire any further but realise later that the fish ive been getting might have come from european fishermen, i was quite baffled, i though we had our own fishing going on in this country. i'm also suspecting that the bass he sells are farmed, they are smallish 'bout a foot?' and very uniform in size. with all the quotas and rules i guess more fish might be farmed, especially the stuff from supermarkets. what do you guys think about the fish you buy? {extra note} ive read that your average bass of 10lb is some 10 years old, and so is many other species of decent size, makes me feel kinder weird, killing somthing thats lived for that long

Re: where does the fish come from? i was a fishmonger up to 3 years ago, as far as i remember the only sea fish we had in that was farmed were bass, bream and turbot, the others were the usual salmon, trout, char and mirror carp can't think of any more,it is early ,too bl**dy early, why do i have to work on a bank holiday ?

Re: where does the fish come from? yes, under protest, there is very strong feeling towards carp in my corner of the world and there was an outcry,i told my bosses (tesco) but they put profit first before anything else,--as usual.
