Charlotte, not knowing where you live, it would be hard to point you towards a specific mark, but in general you need to look for a mark with a bit more water, preferably with a nice bit of tide, a rocky headland for example. The main species your likely to catch on a lure are free swimmimg predators, such as Bass, Mackerel or Pollack. Obviously, being free swimming, these fish are feeding by sight, and so clear water is a must. Marks that spring to mind are Hopes Nose, near Torquay, Berry Head, near Brixham, along with the town's breakwater, any of the Start Bay beaches, ie, Slapton, Beesands, etc, Rame Head and Penlee Point near Torpoint, Mount Batten Pier in Plymouth..the list goes on. E-mail at leefishingred@yahoo.co.uk and let me know where you live and I'll be able to help you more. Hope this helps a little.

Re: East Portlemouth yesterday The good thing about this forum is that everyone fits in no matter what age, gender or background as we all share a love of fishing although I can understand you might be nervous meeting strangers on your own so turn up at the next meet and drag a friend or family member with you, who knows they might enjoy trying fishing themselves.

Re: East Portlemouth yesterday definately! i have only met two anglers on here but they were both really sound and i cant wait to meet some more of you at clovelly and then on the Gower. The forum meets are very casual affairs - just like going fishing on you're on but surrounded by people who will teach you all you want to learn! And you will probably outfish us then - just ask welshwizard who has vowed never to take his missus fishing again! lol __________________ South Wales Angling Guide - Shore Angling in South Wales
