Never Thought I'd Say This..!!!

I never thought I'd see the day when I praised SHAKESPEARE rods, but the day has come!!!

Many of us buy the best we can afford, with top names like
Cono-Flex,Zziplex, and Diawa. And I hold my hand up to buying the best I can afford.
Anyway today I recieved another new rod from Shakespeare, the Odessa Flattie which cost me £31.99 from Jims mail-order.

HELLLLOOOOO WAKEY WAKEY....why has nobody ever said anything positive about Shakespeare rods.

I've always believed that Shakespeare rods were crap, and I think years ago they probably were but there must have been a change somewhere along the line cos the 2 rods I've just recieved are absolutely fantastic, so much so that I've ordered another Flattie rod today to make a matching pair.

Whilst I'm here I must also mention the great service that Jim's mail-order supplies. I dealt with a young lady called Lucy and she was spot on, very helpful and polite and knows how to treat her customers.

So all you guys out there who hate Shakespeare and wouldnt touch them with a barge pole....WAKE UP!!!!!! something has changed.

The Odessa Flattie is rated 1-3oz and is 3.30mtrs and constructed of carbon fibre. The rod is of a slimline design and has a white tip of about 8 inches for better bite detection in poor lighting conditions.
Initially the rod appears to be a little stiff but as you increase the load the rod almost changes character and has a more though action with is just spot on.
Get yourself down to the local shop and have a look at some shakespeare rods..... I think your be pleasantly surprised.

Hi PixyB

I think most peeps appreciate there are some very good Shakey rods - some of their cheaper rods were prone to 'ring rust' ; but the blanks are excellent. Therefore, the rods are pretty good value and perform well. I used to fish in the States with Shakey rods; all the time.

It seems it's their reels that are cr*p - according to users comments - I'm perhaps lucky; never having bought one

I use a shakespeare rod, and think it's great. Will look into getting the Odessa Bass rod, that I've heard about..

The above was posted by me in an earlier post...I would like to retract this and say that the service aint all that great .
Reason being... they delivered the rod to the wrong address TWICE!!!

Although the flattie rod is great there system for delivery needs looking at.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Hi Pixy,

Who delivered your rod? I'll bet it wasn't the tackle shop??? It probably was a delivery company.

Cheers

Drew

Re: Never Thought I'd Say This..!!!

No it was the shops fault, I e-mailed them a new delivery address last sunday morning, not the sunday just gone but the one b4. Then I called them twice to confirm this and they said it wouldnt be a problem, I even called the delivery company a few days later and they said that they only had the old address, thats why it came to my home address today.

Anyway its here now thank god.
I really hate sloppy customer services, every time I buy something there's always a bloody problem somewhere along the line. Every time I think its going smoothly something happens to cock things up.

Is it just me or does anyone else get the same problems.

Ive just sent a faulty telescopic sight back the to manufactures today, thats the second time Ive had to do that. I'll keep you posted with the progress of this **** up.

Re: Never Thought I'd Say This..!!!

Hey Pixy,

I have gone and bought myself an Odessa Flattie too............

I 'impulse' bought the rod last weekend after reading this thread and your recommendation - I was planning to buy something to lob about 3-4oz so the thread came just at the right time.

What reel are you sticking on it? I only ask because I only had an Abu 6500 with me (I bought the rod when I was buying bait) and felt it was a bit too big (heavy).

Waddya think?
