Re: Skerries forum boat trip 4/5/05 I've used 1 of their match rods for float fishing, and surface fishing and I think it's great. Never had a problem with Shakespeare really ![]() __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º>

Re: Skerries forum boat trip 4/5/05 Ive just sealed the tube back up and to be honest I dont really want to send it back cos its got a lovely action to it. If the Flattie rod is a little lighter than the Bass rod which it should be then I'm gonna be well happy.Lets just wait til tomorrow and have a look.

Re: Skerries forum boat trip 4/5/05 I'll be using my 12ft 2.5 lb carp rod, 15lb mainline and the special Smoothie wisbone rig (think I've done them in 25lb line, cant remember). The piece in TSF last month recommended light tackle. The advice when Kiwi first mentioned the trip was to use carp rods so they should be fine, water is pretty shallow. Is there chance of the odd bass out there too? That could be fun on the tackle I'm using!

Re: Skerries forum boat trip 4/5/05 Yeh Bass is a possibility, the Skerries is shallow in places so much so you can sometimes see the bottom, but the banks have very steep shelving ledges and can reach depths of around 150ft!!. There's also alot of wrecks around there too, a quick count on the map and there's about 22 within the banks themselves.
