Unhappy car park charges going up around devon

it may still be cold outside but carpark charges has gone back to summer rates, brixham charging somthing like £3 for 4hr+. i think it was more last year but that just mean itll go up again soon. i am so jealous of the lucky peeps who can walk to their fav fishing haunts.

Re: car park charges going up around devon

Hi Folks,

This is a general trend. Councils are now out to make as much money as they can, and unlucky we the motorists, are the fall guys all the time.

Where I fish from at Mudeford the car park used to be free over the winter period but now charge £2. The summer charge has now gone up from £6 per day to £8. One good thing about Mudeford you can stay overnight for your £8, OK if you have a motorhome.

Cheers

Re: car park charges going up around devon

The thing I really hate about parking around Torbay / South Hams is that they only have machines that require coins. Used the Dartmouth Park & Ride when I was down there last. Didn't have change, tried the adjoining leisure centre which I assume is owned by the same council and they aren't allowed to give change. Ended up having to walk to the petrol station to buy something I didn't need just to get change. Same happened at Brixham breakwater, who actually carries £7 in loose change with them? They should at least have machines that take notes if not cards!!!

Re: car park charges going up around devon

Dave, when I went house hunting, the pay to park was bad, But its by the sea side, and its a lot better then here in oxford, Parking just a joke.
How did your weekend go, good I hope, there are some good feedback reports from people who went.
By the way dave, the paperwork as been done, and i will be moving to exmouth on the 29th, can,t wait to leave oxford. I maybe going down over the weekend, saturday to measure up the rooms and see what fits, and what needs replacing.
Try to have a think about best places to fish, michael
