Re: Fishing in Salcombe

I have seen people fishing there but not in the marina areas but more towards the sea end. If you go just past the Lloyds TSB the road rises up and there are steps down to a path along the estuary and I have seen people fishing there but don't know if it is any use.

Re: Fishing in Salcombe

Salcome has some good fishing especially up the river a bit, but be prepared for a bit of a walk.

PLaces that i have fished have produced some nice fish, like bass, wrasse, thornies, mack, dab and flounder. I have been searching for the elusive gilthead bream but to no avail.

The marks that fish well include Snapes point and toss noss, and i find peeler and rag work the best but have caught fish on prawn.

Down towards the mouth of the river you will see many little beaches these are good for bass, pollack, ray and plaice. further along you will get to the rocks and i suppose you can catch wrasse, mack etc

Re: Fishing in Salcombe

I personally use either the pulley rig, or a paternoster rig, or if being lazy just a simple running ledger.

I suppose a float would work well on slapton/beesands, never tried it myself, but i would normally have 1 rod on the bottom and 1 on the float unless the fish are in a feeding frenzy when 2 is too much.

Like people have been saying in the other thread you have to try the baits, it can be hit or miss. with the baits you are on about i would try and fish near rocks where im sure the ballan wrasse will love them.
